Lion — the Strong and Mighty!

Oho! That’s one movie you should bookmark if you are into watching some serious stuff.

It’s an emotional rollercoaster cum tearjerker with a strong story and it will leave a long-lasting impact on you as you finish it.

The story is all about a kid who loses his track from home, gets adopted, moves to Australia and then traces his home back after two decades. He was five when he gets lost and two decades later he finds his village through Google Earth. It may sound like some stupid fiction but it’s a real story which has inspired this movie.

So, what else is so great about it?

It’s the depth of the story and the strong emotions which play all along. It’s the confusion and chaos through which you are taken around during the first half that mesmerises you. Then the emotional rollercoaster ride which the characters go through in the second half. Adding to this, there are places which the story takes you which you might never see in your life.

It shows that the world is full of good and bad people as the kid encounters people in Kolkata when he roams on the street.

There are scenes where the movie actually breaks your heart like when you hear an orphan kid saying that she will buy a watch(that’s her ambition in life) when she is asked about what she will do when she leaves the orphanage. This story with its ebb and tides in drama will make you cheer and shed tears as it moves forward.

It’s beautiful when it captures the emotion of a young man who feels that he is privileged as he has a past which is contradicting to his present. It’s quite a pragmatic story as he is confused about what he doing and breakup with his girlfriend.

The movie has Nicole Kidman in a wonderful role. Inspite of less screen time she makes a strong impact in the scenes where she shares screen with people. The movie has Dev Patel in the lead but he loses to his younger version of the character played by the kid Sunny Pawar in acting. The characters played by Sunny Pawar and Abhishek Bharate as Saroo and Guddu will remain in memories forever.

Overall, Lion stands mighty and strong with its story, characters and the actors who played them very well. For serious movie watchers, a must watch as soon as possible.
